You trigger the recording. You speak the history, the findings and the plan, during or right after the examination. If you want to record the conversation itself, you obtain the patient's explicit consent, which can be withdrawn at any time.

Scrypa Medical does not listen continuously in the consulting room and does not start a recording by itself.
Do I have to dictate differently than I am used to?
What Scrypa does
You speak freely and in natural language. Scrypa Medical assigns what you say to the sections, that is history, findings, diagnosis and plan, and recognises your practice-specific terms and shorthand, which are captured during onboarding.
What Scrypa does not do
Scrypa Medical does not impose a dictation template and does not require command phrases. We do not promise a fixed recognition rate; we measure it during the pilot on your real cases.
How do the chart entry and the referral letter reach the practice system?
What Scrypa does
Depending on the system, in three ways: direct transfer into the fields through an available interface, a structured handover for import, or finished structured text that you review and paste in. Scrypa Medical is built for common practice management systems such as CGM, medatixx and Duria.
What Scrypa does not do
Scrypa Medical does not replace your practice management system and does not require a system change. Which level is possible for your system is something we check before the start, rather than promising a deep integration up front.
Who is responsible for diagnosis, coding and the referral letter?
What Scrypa does
The ICD-10-GM code with diagnostic certainty appears as a suggestion in the draft. You check it, correct it and approve it, and only then does the entry go into the practice management system. That approval step is built in.
What Scrypa does not do
Scrypa Medical makes no diagnosis, gives no treatment recommendation and performs no medical assessment. Scrypa sees itself as a documentation assistant and claims no medical device status under the MDR.
What happens to patient data, and who can see it?
What Scrypa does
Processing takes place in data centres inside the EU, encrypted in transit and at rest, with access only for the people you authorise. After transcription the audio file is deleted. Before the start we sign a data processing agreement under Article 28 GDPR, and the people involved are contractually bound to confidentiality in the sense of § 203 StGB.
What Scrypa does not do
No third country transfer in normal operation and no cross-customer model training with your content by default. There is no ISO 27001 certification: the management system is built along the lines of the standard, but we do not claim a certificate.
On what legal basis does this run under Article 9 GDPR?
What Scrypa does
Health data is specially protected under Article 9 GDPR. Treatment documentation regularly relies on Article 9(2)(h) GDPR, and recording the conversation additionally requires the patient's explicit consent. As a processor we support you with access, rectification and erasure requests.
What Scrypa does not do
We do not determine the purposes and means of the processing and we give no legal advice. Your practice remains the controller and sets the legal basis in each case.
What happens if the connection drops in the consulting room?
What Scrypa does
Capture works even without a continuous connection, and syncing happens as soon as the network is back. Scrypa Medical runs on common mobile devices and is built for environments with background noise.
What Scrypa does not do
We do not promise identical recognition quality in every environment. Microphone and device setup are checked during the pilot in your own rooms, and we give a concrete recommendation afterwards.

Documentation duty (§ 630f BGB)
The patient record is kept in immediate temporal connection with the treatment and retained for at least ten years after the treatment ends, unless longer periods apply.
Evidential weight (§ 630h BGB)
An undocumented measure that is subject to documentation counts as not carried out in a dispute. Complete, timely entries protect the practice and the patient.

Scrypa sees itself as a documentation assistant that transcribes what is spoken, structures it and transfers it into the existing target system, without making its own medical assessment. Pure documentation and administration software is generally not classified as a medical device. We claim neither medical device status nor MDR certification; the classification for a specific deployment is made by the controller.
Scrypa Medical is built for German and for medical terminology, including regional colouring and the way clinicians actually speak, and it recognises symptoms, findings, medication and diagnoses. During onboarding we also capture your practice-specific terms, shorthand and phrasing. Critical details such as active ingredient and dosage are yours to check in the draft before approval.
There is usually still a way. Options are a deep integration through an available interface, a structured handover for import, or assisted input where the finished structured entry is reviewed and pasted in. Which level fits your system is something we establish in the initial conversation.
Where external service providers are involved, § 203 StGB applies. Scrypa supports this by contractually binding the people involved to confidentiality and through technical access restrictions, in addition to the data processing agreement under Article 28 GDPR. The final assessment under professional law rests with you as the controller.
